NJ Announces 2024-2025 Increases in Allowances and Exemptions to Community Spouses, Dependents and Home Exemption Figures

HNWApplying for Medicaid Long Term Care Benefits, Medicaid Eligibility and Asset Protection Planning

stethoscope on currencyEvery year NJ announces changes to its regulations which govern the amount of money a community spouse (a community spouse is the spouse who is living at home or a primary residence and not in a nursing home or assisted living residence) as well as support payments to dependent minors of Medicaid beneficiaries.

NJ has just announced its 2024/2025 figures and I want to get these figures to you as soon as possible.

In summary spouses and dependent children will see an increase in the amount of income they may be eligible to receive from their institutionalized spouse or parent. Also, the value of a family’s home that can be preserved from mandatory spendown has also been increased.

As in all things Medicaid, it’s confusing and often conditional depending on your circumstances so you may need further clarification if Medicaid is in place or you may be soon applying for Medicaid long term care.
