Today, New Jersey announced that certain individuals under the age of 64 will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination soon.
This news is a huge relief for many families whose family member with a disability is under 65, and was not previously eligible for an early vaccination. Today, New Jersey announced that with individuals with Down Syndrome who live in the community and are over the age of 16 will be eligible for a COVID vaccination as part of Phase 1B, as are individuals over 16 who have Cancer, Chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Heart conditions, such as heart failure, sickle cell disease, Type II diabetes, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies, are overweight and have a body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher, or are smokers to be vaccinated as part of group 1B.
This is good news for many of the valuable members of our society who have a higher risk of complications from COVID-19.
